After a disappointing year with a cheaply constructed ASUS netbook, I looked for a replacement and found the Acer Aspire One 722. The one inch larger screen than the usual 10 inch netbook size made a great difference in usability and is still plenty compact enough. Great screen resolution and performance. I do some development on it and it runs Visual Studio and MSSQL 2008 just fine. I'm very happy I trusted the Amazon reviews and would like to add another good one.

I wanted to get something so I could do class work and/or kill time at work. I had been looking at Chromebooks and mobile hots pots. I was eyeing the Samsung 3g Chromebook which jumped 50$ while I was waiting and researching into mobile hot spots which is depressing, so I started looking at netbooks.

I wanted a machine with a keyboard, so no tablets.
I wanted something small, so no full sized laptops.
I wanted to just grab it and go and last 4-6 hours while at class, coffee shop, or park.
I wanted wider dimensions for a bigger keyboard (6'4" with big hands).
Cheaper price was a consideration.

This fit the criteria and then some.

Running windows I'm able to install software I'll need for classes on it. It's amazingly snappy for its specs. I have yet to experience sluggishness while surfing even with Skype and a few other programs running in the background. It runs better then some 1 year old full sized laptops. I had budgeted more then the netbook cost so I ended up getting accessories.

OCZ Agility 3 60GB (I got a really good deal on this but it's been a headache and have switched back to the HD shipped with the netbook till the firmware is more stable)

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
I installed the RAM before I ever turned it on so that could be a noticeable difference in the multitasking and smoothness I claim.

Battery life; I get about 7 hours with wifi off typing, 5 while surfing, 3 while strictly watching video.

CON:
Only one I can speak too is the speakers, they suck, hard. My iPod touch has better sound. So I carry ear buds in my backpack if I settle into watch something on it (or ill toss them in the neoprene case if I'm just taking the netbook).

Love this product, did my research beforehand but for me Amazon.com is all about the pricing. It works great right out the box, obviously its a netbook so there is no optical drive. For persons with large amounts of data and files a external hard drive might be useful. I personally always store my music, videos, pics etc. offsite so not a problem for me. If a netbook is what you want this is a great one at an exceptional price.
